Dear Reader,
This blog is a series of responses to the ideas taught and read in my Theories of Popular Culture class. The subject matter of this blog will be on popular culture being a filler in our everyday lives as well as being a response to dominance and subordination, and the idea of "the crowd".
"Sprawling: a discussion on popular culture", is the name of this blog site because of my over arching idea that the general "we", us as humans, have created popular culture due to the need of filling the void that exists between each other, our cultures, and the space around us. Together, we sprawl across what separates us; either to bring us together, push each other apart, or in an attempt to create a singular culture.
I will be posting once a week. Each post will explore our "sprawling" across the universe of "us." These posts however, will correlate with the weekly subject matter learned and inspired through my class.
Best,
Christine
